Tadasana is the first asana in Shankha Prakshalana asana sequence.
Benefits of Tadasana:
- Improves the alignment of spinal column.
- Rejuvenates the spinal cord.
- Slows down the degenerative changes in the spinal column.
- Highly beneficial for inter vertebral disc prolapse in the lumbar region.
- Tones up the calf muscles and the gluteal muscles.
- Improves physical and mental balance.
- Stretches the shoulder joint’s ligaments and abdominal muscles.
- Increases the vital capacity of lungs.
- Beneficial for flat foot.
- Improves height if done before 16 years of age.
- It can be followed or preceded by inverted asanas mainly sirshasana (headstand).
- To be done against a wall or pillar in case of persons suffering from vertigo or Postural hypotension (low blood pressure).
